Spikes on Trainers for Cricket and Golf

Most trainers can be converted to have full or half spikes with leather or plastic soles, or half & half, with spikes in the forepart, and dimples on the heels.

If you are a bowler, then the norm would be to have a full conversion, with spikes in the forepart and heel. For batting, half & half soles or spikes in the forepart only, are often preferred.

If you select leather soles, then you can specify the layout of the spikes (see the two extra spikes in the centre of the forepart), but with plastic the receptacles for the spikes are already moulded into the sole, seven in the forepart, four in the heel.

The leather soles are made from Tanflex, which is very hard wearing, soft and supple and resistant to moisture.

Trainers with cut-outs in the centre of the heel or visible air pockets are more difficult to convert, so avoid these if possible, however most current makes can be done. Check with me if in doubt.
