| Lasts: |
From the measurements taken, models of the feet are made and these are called "lasts". They are kept for you for any repeat orders you may wish to make. The uppers are stretched over the lasts during manufacture, thus forming the boots to the shape of each foot.
|
| Uppers: |
The uppers are made from two/three layers of white kangaroo skin leather, with nylon reinforcing in areas of stress, a padded ankle (new for 2010) and tongue. An extra strong heel stiffener is fitted as standard. Your initials can be added on the heel & tongue if you wish.
|
| Styles |
High – boot giving full support above the ankle bone. |
| |
Low – boot where the upper is level with the ankle bone. |
| |
Shoe – trainer type upper cut low under ankle bones and with padded collar around the ankle, suitable for batting or wicket-keeping.
|
| Insole: |
4 mm orthopaedic shock-absorbing material, lined with suede leather and incorporating a further 6 mm of Poron/PPT protection under the heel, and 1.5 mm under the rest of the foot.
|
| Middle: |
A thin but very strong layer of leather cemented to the insole and uppers and then securely stitched. This method of construction, called "veldschoen", gives the boot extra strength whilst retaining flexibility.
|
| Midsole: |
A shock-absorbent through sole of top quality EVA, shaped to assist the running action, is cemented to the middle.
|
| Soles: |
Leather – A new, light weight, very supple, almost waterproof Tanflex leather sole, which absorbs very little moisture, dries out quickly without cracking, and is exceedingly hard wearing. |
| |
Plastic – A moulded sole with small screw-in tool steel spikes (max size 11). |
| |
Trainer – A choice of man-made trainer type soles without spikes. |
| |
Half & Half – The forepart in light leather or plastic, with screw-in spikes, and the rear part in man-made trainer type soling.
|
| Spikes: |
The position of spikes in leather soles can be configured to customer’s requirements.
|
| Drag Plate: |
A stainless steel plate tailored to fit around the welt of the boot in the drag area, to avoid excessive wear.
|
| Repairs: |
A full repair service is offered, which includes new midsoles, leather soles and spikes and any patching on the uppers which may be necessary. |
